“UPDATE: The intruder was arrested on criminal trespass and released. He is a registered sexual offender. The Sheriff was/is incredibly dismissive of my mom’s concerns and told her to keep herself locked up when she is in her house……forbid we keep lawbreakers locked up!! I actually have no words for how messed up this is!

Today my twelve year olds world was nearly shattered, it will be forever changed and so will her grandmothers (my mom). This morning in a tiny class C town in eastern Montana my Mom and my daughter, who is visiting gramm’s like all kids do, had a home intruder. Mom was literally fresh out of the shower and in the process of getting dressed when the man appeared in the doorway of her bedroom and refused to leave.

My mom had to draw her weapon on a stranger in her own home! Thank God she always carries and her side arm was not in the bathroom on the counter, but in her bedroom, as she had not put it on yet. She forced the man out of the house and locked the door, it took police 20 minutes to get there! I shutter to think what could have happened today if my mom had not been armed.

That man would have easily overpowered her! What would have happened to my daughter? What was this mans intention?I am always armed when I leave my house….Always! I am usually armed when I am at home but have become laxed because friends and family shake their heads at me…..NO MORE!

Laugh if you want IDC! My daughter has rolled her eyes at me for never leaving home without my side arm, for open carrying when we go for walks or bike rides………today she learned that a gun in her grandmas hand quite possibly saved her life!

She will forever have a changed view of the world she lives in, (this breaks my heart) I will never get to see her smirk at me for my absolute adherence to be armed…..that innocence is lost. I am absolutely sick at what could have been today, I am brokenhearted for my daughter. Being safe, even in your own damn home is an illusion! Sarah’s gramm’s is a hero, thank you Mom.”
