The Montana House of Representatives will kick off the 67th Legislative session with the funding bill for covering the cost of the legislature.

It is important to provide the needed funding to cover the legislature every 2 years in Montana. Many people do not know what the cost is or how it is covered so we thought we should give you a snap shot of HB 1 that will be heard in the appropriations committee on January 5th 2021 @ 9:00am.

5 A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: “AN ACT APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR THE OPERATION OF THE
6 CURRENT AND SUBSEQUENT LEGISLATURE; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE.”

8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

10 NEW SECTION. Section 1. Appropriation. (1) The following amounts are appropriated from the
11 state general fund for fiscal years 2021, 2022, and 2023 for the operation of the 67th legislature and the costs
12 of preparing for the 68th legislature:

15 House of Representatives $6,411,802
16 Legislative Services Division $1,846,466
17 (2) The following amounts are appropriated from the state general fund for fiscal year 2023 for the
18 initial costs of the 68th legislature:
