The Montana Districting and Apportionment Commission will hold a public hearing on October 19 to hear public input on 9 proposed maps for the state’s two congressional districts. The commission meets again in a work session on October 21 to select a map for an October 30 public hearing.

October 19 Public Hearing Information: The October 19 public hearing starts at 10 a.m. in Room 102 of the State Capitol and on Zoom. More information on how the public can participate in the meeting and provide comments is available at the commission’s website.

October 21 Work Session Information: The October 21 work session starts at 10 a.m. in Room 102 of the State Capitol. The commission will not be taking additional verbal comments during this work session. The public may join the commissioners at the Capitol, watch the meeting online, and provide written comments using the process outlined below.

Both meetings will be streamed live online at the Montana Legislature’s website, leg.mt.gov, and broadcast on the Montana Public Affairs Network (MPAN).

Written public comments are encouraged. Written comments may be submitted using the commission’s webform, through the interactive maps online, emailed to districting@mt.gov, or mailed to Districting and Apportionment Commission, PO Box 201706, Helena, MT 59620.

Written comments received by 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 16 will be provided to commissioners in advance of the October 19 hearing. Comments received after that time but before October 19 will be given to the commissioners prior to or at the October 19 hearing. Comments received between October 19 and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20 will be provided to the commissioners prior to the October 21 work session. Comments received after that time will be given to the commissioners prior to the October 30 public hearing.
